Richard D. Weeks

Richard Weeks has been involved in the marine insurance industry since 1978. He began his career with Liberty Mutual Insurance as a claims trainee in the marine department. In 1984, he became claims manager for Crum and Forester Insurance Co. and was directly responsible for establishing claims handling procedures. He is also involved in injury claims, hull claims and cargo claims.

In 1991, Richard joined Lamorte Burns & Co., Inc. and currently works in the Washington State office. His job functions include workers' compensation, Jones Act and USL&H claims. Mr. Weeks is professionally licensed in the states of Alaska and Washington and also is a member of the Marine Insurance Society, the Puget Sound Maritime Claims Association & the Longshore Association.


Stephanie Haughton

Stephanie Haughton began work with Commercial Claims Services in 1987, and came to Lamorte Burns & Co., Inc. when Lamorte Burns purchased the company in 1988. She holds an Associate of Arts degree as a paralegal from Highline College. She has previously worked as an administrator for self-insured workers' compensation claims in the states of Washington, Oregon and Alaska. Stephanie presently handles cruise passenger, Jones Act, USL&H, foreign crewmen, dock damage and cargo claims. Stephanie is also professionally licensed in the states of Alaska, Washington and Oregon.


Jim Tomlinson

Jim Tomlinson began working in the maritime industry in 1989 with Eagle Insurance Company. While at Eagle, he handled full case load of USL&H claims as a senior claims examiner, litigation specialist and claims supervisor. He also has handled Alaska State Act and Washington State Act Claims. Jim is a graduate of Linfield College with a business degree. Jim joined Lamorte Burns in 2006.

Suzanne B. Narushko

Suzanne B. Narushko joined Lamorte Burns & Co., Inc. in 2001. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Florida State University with a minor in Business Administration. She is a licensed State of California Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster as well as a licensed California State Adjuster. She has a CLA (Certified Legal Assistant) degree and Associate of Risk Management (ARM)degree. Suzanne also most recently obtained her Associate in Insurance Claims (AIC) with an emphasis on handling Liability Claims and Property Casualty Claims. Suzanne has professional qualifications in Federal and State Longshore Harbor compensation cases. Suzanne began working in the field in 1987. Her duties at Lamorte Burns include handling U.S. L&H claims, P&I related matters and Liability claims.


Ron Kelsey

Ron Kelsey has been a Claims Adjuster for Lamorte Burns since 2008 handling Longshore and State of California workers' compensation claims. He graduated from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Ronís previous experience includes working as a Claims Authorizer for the Social Security Administration and Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster for the City and County of San Francisco. His credentials include the California Self-Insurance Plans certificate.

George M. Jones - Manager

George Jones has been practicing maritime law for 25 years in the Long Beach/Los Angeles area and has significant experience litigating a wide variety of maritime claims including personal injury, cargo, pollution and general insurance claims.

George graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1992 where he served as Editor in Chief of the USF Maritime Law Journal. George began his legal career in the maritime group of a large international law firm. Prior to joining Lamorte Burns, George managed his own law firm, Jones Maritime Law, APC, which specialized in maritime personal injury litigation, including Jones Act and USL&H matters. George is licensed to practice law in all state and federal courts in California. He is a Certified Specialist in Maritime Law and a Proctor of Admiralty Member of the Maritime Law Association of the US. George is also A/V Preeminent rated by Martindale Hubbell, the highest independent, peer review rating awarded for excellence in both competency and ethics.


Edward H. Sakai

Contact Info

Edward Sakai started handling claims in 1996 for FARA and administered USL&H claims for International Transportation Service and Sea-Land Service. Throughout his USL&H and Workers Compensation State experience he was promoted to Supervisor in 2003. With a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and he would also market and target Brokers, Agents or Insurance Companies.

Edward is currently a claim adjuster handling USL&H for Commercial Insurance Service.


Wu-Ing Wang (Wendy) - Consultant

Wendy has been with Lamorte Burns & Co., Inc. since we were headquartered at The World Trade Center in downtown Manhattan. She completed her Master's Program, with honors, at SUNY Maritime College at Fort Schuyler. Wendy has experience with cargo, Charter Party, and hull matters. She also handles crew-related claims; medical bill repricing & negotiating with providers for agreed audit. Furthermore, Wendy provides support to our branch offices on these matters.

Wendy devotes considerable effort in regard to third party indemnity claims because of our firm's policy of not just providing premium quality of claim handling services, but more importantly to go one step further to aggressively pursue indemnity recovery for our clients.

Over the last 20 years, Wendy has developed an expertise in creating and implementing Cargo Risk Management Procedures for our shipowner and charterer clients.




Craig Kuhns, Master Claims Consultant

Craig Kuhns started his career in Workers' Compensation in 1980 at SAIF Corporation, after obtaining his BS and JD degrees from Willamette University. He worked in Oregon, Longshore & Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (L&HWCA) and Jones Act claims, managing a Federal Claims Unit for 10 years. He went to Liberty Mutual in April of 1997 as a Sr. Case Manager and managed Oregon, Alaska, L&HWCA and Jones Act claims. He was promoted to Master Claims Consultant in 2004, and continued to work in that capacity until retiring in January 2010.

He was appointed to the Longshore Regional Advisory Group, US Department of Labor in Seattle, WA in 1983. He has been President of the Northwest Longshore Administrators Association (NWLAA) since 1987. He was a founding Board Member of the Longshore Claims Association (LCA, based in Southern California) in 1989, and continues in that position. He has spoken at, and organized, numerous meetings and seminars on L&HWCA and Jones Act claims.


Lisa Bailey

Lisa began her claims career at SAIF Corporation as a Federal Claims Adjuster in 1986. As a Federal Claims Adjuster, she managed USL& H claims until moving into an investigator role in 1995 investigating both Longshore and Oregon State Workers' Compensation Claims. In 2006, she began working at Liberty Mutual Insurance handling USL& H claims and Jones Act claims until 2009 when she moved to the casualty department managing commercial BI and PD claims until leaving the position in 2014. In that position she managed claims filed in Oregon, Washington, Montana, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and California. Lisa obtained a BS in Business Economics from Eastern Oregon University, and has an Associate in Claims certification from IIA.
