Charles Johnson is a Vice President at Lamorte Burns and is directing the Hull & Machinery and Cargo Claims Sections. Charles is an attorney with background experience in maritime law, Jones Act, cargo and hull, maritime personal injury, contracts, commercial law and litigation, and general insurance claims. He is also a former Assistant Counsel with the U.S. Department of the Navy, Military Sealift Command in Washington, DC. In addition, Charles has been a senior litigator with several maritime and commercial law firms in both New York and Connecticut
Charles graduated from Fairfield University in 1990 and Syracuse University College of Law in 1994. Charles is admitted to the Bars of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey (both state and federal) and the District of Columbia. He is also a member of the Maritime Law Association of the U.S. and the Connecticut Maritime Association.
Collin Zachariewicz joined Lamorte Burns in 2013 and is assigned to the cargo claims department. Collin is a 2013 graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a degree in International Maritime Business. He has recently worked for Aflac in their sales division.
While attending Mass Maritime, he interned twice with ECM Maritime Services and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Collin is applying for membership in the Connecticut Maritime Association.
Senior Vice President, based in the Lamorte Burns, Mt Laurel, NJ office. Graduate of LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA with a BA in Criminal Justice. 27 years experience handling, investigating and supervising property and casualty claims with a special concentration in Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act claims. Experienced in the Ports of Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, DE, Camden, NJ, Gloucester, NJ, Miami and Port Everglades, FL, Baltimore, MD, New Haven, CT, North Kingstown, RI and the Port of New York/New Jersey. She has worked for an insurance company, independent adjusting firm and third party administrator. Board member of the Longshore Claims Association. Past President of the Central Jersey Claims Association. She was instrumental in the amendment of the Pa state Workers Compensation Act to exclude concurrent jurisdictions (Act 63).
Lisa has spoken at numerous longshore seminars and conferences and has provided expert witness testimony on numerous occasions. She has also provided supervisor training for employers and conducted claims reviews and audits for various carriers, employers and self insured clients.
Kelly is a Vice President of the company and Manager of the New Jersey office. She is a graduate of LaSalle University and holds a masters degree in Psychology from the University of Santa Monica. She has been handling and supervising USL&H claims since 1991. She supervises all occupational claims handling and is responsible for new adjuster training programs. Kelly is also licensed to handle State worker compensation claims in the states of Delaware, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
Theresa is an Assistant Manager of the New Jersey office and has been with Lamorte Burns since April, 2003. Her previous experience includes employment with a Maritime Employer since 1991. In 1993, she became their Compensation Program Manager. She supervised their TPA and authorized all major decisions in the day-to-day handling of their USL&H cases. Theresa obtained her Associate in Claims (AIC) Degree from the Insurance Institute of America in 1999.
Sarah is a claims supervisior and has been with Lamorte Burns since 2006. She is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University of Pomona with a B.S. in Business Administration and concentration in Finance, Real Estate, and Law. She has been handling maritime claims for 7 years to include marine, air, inland cargo and currently longshore claims.
Karla is a senior claims adjuster in the NJ office and has been with Lamorte Burns since 1999. She has been handling worker's compensation claims for 16 years including Longshore & Harbor Workers Compensation Act, Jones Act and Pennsylvania State. She is knowledgeable and efficient in the PA State procedures and WCAIS portal . Her previous experience includes fraud investigation in the banking industry and a technical support position with an oil spill response company.
Ed is a Law Enforcement professional with 29 years of investigative experience. He retired from the New Jersey State Police in 2013 as the Executive Officer of the Intelligence Section and joined the Camden County Prosecutor's Office where he obtained the rank of Detective and was assigned to the Major Crimes Unit. He was responsible for investigating all first and second degree crimes that occurred within Camden County, New Jersey and provided investigative assistance to the 37 municipal police departments within Camden County. He received the 2014 New Jersey Attorney General's Award for excellence in investigative initiative and the 2015 Hero Scholarship Meritorious Award for investigative excellence. In September 2015, he resigned from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office to become a member of Lamorte Burns & Company Inc. overseeing investigation of claims and implementing protocol to identify and eradicate fraudulent activity.
Patrick is a claims investigator in the New Jersey office. His degree in Criminal Justice is from Temple University. He spent 5 years with the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania as a Probation Officer.
John has a BA in Criminal Justice from Temple University. His prior work experience includes 10 plus years as an investigator and surveillance operative. He is adept in background investigations, scene investigations and written/recorded statements.
Henry is a Claims Adjuster and has been with Lamorte Burns since February 2006. He is a graduate of Dickinson College with a degree in Political Science. Prior to joining the company, he spent 5 ½ years as a Probation Officer with the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania.
Kimberly Almaguer, Claims Manager, obtained her All Lines Adjuster license in 1995 and has been handling a variety of claims since that time. She began her adjusting career handling State Act claims, Social Security Disability claims and subsequently U.S. Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act claims.
She joined Lamorte Burns & Co., Inc. in June, 2002, and continues to actively handle Federal and State Act claims. Her maritime expertise has been gained through handling death cases, catastrophic injuries, subrogation, accident investigations and working closely with law enforcement on both the State and Federal levels. She has been successful with pursuit of fraudulent claims resulting in arrests, convictions and restitution.
Kimberly also handles P&I claims involving cargo damage, vessel groundings, crew injuries and/or illnesses. She also works closely with the U.S. Coast Guard and Immigration and Naturalization regarding stowaways and claims involving repatriation.
Tom has been in the maritime claims field for the past 38 years. He began his career as a resident adjuster handling work-related maritime accidents. He continued his career while working for carriers, a brokerage firm, and more that a decade of self-employment in and around the Port of New Orleans.
In 1996, Tom moved to Chicago to become the Branch Manager of a national TPA which handles Longshore claims throughout the Midwest (the Great Lakes, the Upper Mississippi Valley, and the Ohio River Valley). He then moved to Florida in 2005 and currently handles claims in our South Florida and Jacksonville offices.
Tom is a licensed multi-line adjuster in Florida and is on the board of the Longshore Claims Association.
Tom earned a B.S. in Economics from the University of Louisiana - Lafayette (formerly USL) and an M.B.A. from Nicholls State University.
Kristen is a Claims Adjuster for the Florida office and holds the Florida All-Lines Adjuster license. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Florida receiving a B.S. in Health and a minor in Health Education. Kristen has been with Lamorte Burns & Co., Inc. since August, 2011. Kristen is also responsible for office administration and clerical training.
